In wezen gaat het om een bestaande “roep” (=melodie) van de midwinterhoorn, een regionale traditional dus, waarbij het harmonium soms een begeleiding speelt, soms een echo geeft, soms het voortouw neemt. Daaraan voorafgaand echter een deel waarin de hoorn nog op gang lijkt te moeten komen, als het ware aan ’t inspelen is met de eerste toon. “Gangs goan” betekent: aan de slag gaan. Een midwinterhoornmelodie bestaat uit 4 tot 6 natuurtonen, die alleen als opeenvolgende tonen kunnen worden gespeeld, van laag naar hoog of van hoog naar laag.

“Midwinterhoorn”is a regional tradition in small part of eastern Netherlands close to the German border. These horns are played traditionally from beginning Advent till Epifany.
Midwinterhorns only sound nature tones, 4-6 depending on the horn and the player. The notes can only be played ascending or descending.

The soundtrack you are about to hear is a rehearsal for a concert played on Thursday 10th of December.

The harmonium, played by Dick Sanderman, is an instrument built by Kotykiewicz Vienna Austria. The part we hear is named Gangs goan’ meaning: let’s start.

Iemand vroeg mij bezorgd of ik al die cd's ook écht zelf heb, of dat ik de gegevens van het internet pluk om zo gemakkelijk de pagina's te vullen. U ziet: de positieve benadering. Om te laten zien dat ik de cd's ook écht heb en regelmatig beluister, ziet u op de pagina van de cd ook een afbeelding van het schijfje. En jawel, je moet een 'tic' hebben om zoveel harmonium cd's te hebben. Maak u echter geen zorgen, één van mijn dikke vrienden is een orgelvriend. Hij heeft ruim 5000 orgel cd's. Met mij zal het dus nog wel goed komen.		Somebody sounded worried when he asked me "do you really have all those cd's?". And - kind of mean: "Or are you merely copying internet?" I was happy with this ultimately positive approach. To show that the discs are really in my possession, a scan of the disc itself is on each page. And yes, one needs to have a 'tic' to have so many harmonium recordings. Don't worry, ony of my best friends is a fan of the pipe organ. Owning only 5,000 recordings. I am sure I will be fine.
